Once in a while, all we want to do is put our swollen feet up on the table after a long day and sip a glass of alcoholic beverage to unwind. Well, when you are pregnant, that's not really an option right? All you can do is stare at the champagne bottle and day dream about drinking it. Yeah...I know. Such a BUMMER but I've got news for you! Mojitos, magaritas and other tasty alcoholic beverage taste oh so good without any alcohol. Don't believe me? Here are 7 delicious mocktails to help you get the edge off.
1. Kiwi Mojito
No cucumber or rum needed for this delicious recipe. All you need...lime, kiwi and club soda for this fruity heavenly deliciousness! Yum!
Pick out your favorite orange juice and swap out the champagne with sparkling cidar. Voila! You got yourself a virgin mimosa.
3. Virgin red or white sangria
For red sangria, select the juice of your choice and use pomegranate or grape juice. For the white version, white grape or apple should do it. Now we all know sangria is super delicious with a bunch of different fruits inside. So select whatever fruits you want in it and let it sit in the fridge for a bit. BOOM! You got your cocktail...just without the alcholic kick! Enjoy!
4. Bloody Mary
Okay, Bloody Mary is one of my all time favs and when you are preggers, you can still make it fun and well...delicious. Alright, you need...4 ounces of tomato juice, 1/2 an ounce of lemon juice, a pinch of hot sauce, pepper, celery salt and salt with 1/2 a teaspoon of worcestershire sauce. Oh and lots of ice! There...your virgin Blood Mary is served.
5. Moscow Mule
So we all know the moscow mule is supposed to be drank with lots of vodka and gingle ale but I am going to have to ask you to slowly step away from the vodka and grab molasses to sub in for the vodka. This is a great source of iron! Just grab 1 teaspoon of molasses (not blackstrap) in hot water and just add one lime. Allow it to cool then top it up with ginger ale and garnish with mint.
6. The Watermelon Mocktail On The Rocks
Oh-la-la! Who doesn't love watermelon? This refreshing 10 minute mocktail will surely boost your immune system. All you need for this delish recipe is 1/2 a cup of watermelon (blended, shaken or muddled), 1/4 of grape juice, 1/4 of tonic water, 1 orange wedge and 1 watermelon wedge for garnish which is optional.
7. Mango Margarita
This drink is sure to keep nausea at bay! Pump up the volume in your taste buds with this morning sickness remedy. You need 1/4 cup of mango juice, 1/4 cup of grape juice, 1 teaspoon of grated ginger, 1 tablespoon of lime juice, 2 strawberries or 4-6 raspberries and granola for garnish. Granola is optional choice.
